Warner Bros.’ ‘Shazam!,’ ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ to Get ScreenX Format Releases

South Korean cinema technology company CJ 4DPLEX and Warner Bros. Pictures will release up to six new films in the immersive, 270-degree ScreenX format globally this year. Under the deal, Warner Bros.' slate of ScreenX releases will include New Line Cinema's Shazam! on April 5 and The Curse of La Llorona on April 19, followed by Warner Bros.' and Legendary Pictures' Godzilla: King of the Monsters on May 31.

BTS’ ‘Love Yourself in Seoul’ Concert Film to Get Extended, 2-Week Run in ScreenX Theaters

On the heels of news that BTS' World Tour Love Yourself in Seoul film would become the "largest event cinematic release ever," the ante just jumped even higher with the band's concert movie getting an extended run thanks to ScreenX theaters. In addition to the previously announced one-day screening in traditional 2D movie format, fans have up to two more weeks to experience BTS' Love Yourself show via ScreenX's uniquely immersive showing that includes a 270-degree, panoramic viewing experience utilizing both the center and side walls of movie theaters.

CGV’s ScreenX Audience Hits 4 Million Driven by ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

CJ CGV, Korea’s top multiplex cinema chain, said the number of immersive screen experience users reached 4 million in 2018, up more than three times from 1.22 million in 2017. The sharp rise was mainly driven by popular sing-along movies including ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. The sing-along theaters where audiences are allowed to sing together during the screening of the film helped boost the ticket sales of the movie.

South Korea’s CJ Doubles Down on US Food Market

South Korean food giant CJ CheilJedang is continuing its aggressive expansion into the U.S. market, with the recently announced acquisition of American frozen food maker Schwan's. The acquisition, the largest-ever by CJ CheilJedang, will more than quadruple the number of its food-processing factories in the U.S. to 22. By bringing Schwan's under its umbrella, CJ CheilJedang intends to tap the entire U.S. market, including smaller cities.
